Curcuma Medicinal Plants Cultivation

Curcuma is a medicinal plant in the form of quasi-trunked clump of plants. In the area of West Java known as curcuma, while in Madura koneng gede called Intersection turnips. Indo-Malaysian region is a place where turmeric is spread throughout the world. Currently this plant than in Southeast Asia can be found also in China, Indochina, Bardabos, India, Japan, Korea, the United States and several countries

Description
Quasi-trunked plants with high sodium by more than 1m but less than 2m, dark green or brown. Perfectly formed roots and rhizomes strong branching, dark green. Each stem has leaves 2-9 strands with round shape extending to build Lancet, green leaf color or light to dark purplish brown, leaf length 31 - 84cm and width 10 - 18cm, including the leaf petiole length 43 - 80cm. Inflorescence lateral, slender stalks and line-shaped scales, stem length 9 - 23cm wide and 4 - 6cm, leafy protector whose length exceeds many or comparable with the crown of flowers. Hairy white petals, the length of 8 - 13mm, tubular petals 4.5cm long overall, blade-shaped flowers are white with rounded elongated tip which is red or red dice, length 1:25 - 2cm and 1cm wide
BENEFITS OF PLANTS
In Indonesia, the only part that is used to make medicinal curcuma rhizome godog. These rhizomes contain starch from 48 to 59.64%, from 1.6 to 2.2% from 1.48 to 1.63% curcumin and essential oils and are believed to increase employment and anti-inflammatory kidney. Another benefit of the rhizome of this plant is as acne medications, increased appetite, anti cholesterol, anti-inflammatory, anemia, anti-oxidants, cancer prevention, and anti-microbial.
INVESTMENT CENTER
This crop is planted in the conventional small-scale cultivation without the use of standard techniques, because it was difficult to determine where the centers of ginger cultivation in Indonesia. Almost in every rural area, especially in medium and high plains, can be found in turmeric, especially in a shady area.
GROWTH REQUIREMENTS
Climate
1) By nature of ginger grow well in a shady land and protected from the scorching sun. In the natural habitat of these plants thrive in the shade of bamboo or teak.  However temulawak can also easily be found in hot places such as moor land. Generally, these plants have a high adaptability to various weather in the tropics.
2) The air temperature is good for the cultivation of this crop between 19-30 oC
3) This plant requires an annual rainfall between 1000-4000 mm / year.
Planting media
Curcuma root system can adapt well to different kinds of good soil calcareous soil, sandy, somewhat sandy and heavy soils berliat. However, to produce optimal rhizome needed fertile soil, loose and berdrainase good. Thus, inorganic and organic fertilizer is needed to provide sufficient nutrients and maintain soil structure in order to stay loose. Soil containing organic material needed to keep the soil is not easily under water.
Altitude Venue
Temulawak can grow at an altitude of 5-1000 m / asl with the optimum altitude is 750 m / asl. The highest starch content in rhizomes was obtained in plants grown at an altitude of 240 m / asl. Temulawak grown in the highlands produce rhizomes which contains very little volatile oil. This plant is more suitable in the plains of being developed.
